How to find ip address

There are two kind of IP addresses.One is the IP address used to communicate inside a local network.The other type is one that is used to communicate on Internet.If you want to find IP address that represents your computer on the Internet you just need to go to the following website : https://www.whatismyip.com

But if want to find the IP address that represents your computer locally in your network you should follow the instructions presented below.

 

Click on the Start Menu.Then click on the Run program.

Type in the following : cmd and then click OK.

You should be presented with a black windows like below.

Now type in the following : ipconfig /all

and you should see something like this :

 

The number that is underlined is the IP address.In this case that is 10.10.10.5.

 

In Windows 7 the procedure is slightly different.You need to click on Start ,then go to All programs and then to Accessories and then click Command Prompt.Now on the procedure is the same as in Windows Xp.
